AUBURN, Ala. - Junior offensive lineman Ryan Pugh has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Football Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. A building science major at Auburn, Pugh carries a 3.45 grade-point average.

A native of Hoover, Ala., he has led an offensive line that has helped the Tigers rush for 224.2 yards per game this season, a mark that ranks second in the Southeastern Conference and 10th in the nation. The line has also created openings for running back Ben Tate, who ranks 11th in the nation with 118.6 yards per game and 5.5 yards per carry.

Pugh is part of an offensive line that has allowed only 12 sacks in 246 pass attempts this season, including two games in which a sack was not given up at all. He leads the offensive line with 64 knockdown blocks.

Pugh was named to the Lindy's Preseason All-SEC First Team and was selected to the Phil Steele Midseason All-SEC Third Team.

To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
