Avery Young and the Tigers celebrate with Auburn fans at Ole Miss

By Charles Goldberg

OXFORD, Miss.  It doesn't matter as much as it once did, not with the debut of the College Football Playoffs standings last Tuesday. But the coaches and Associated Press football polls are still something worth noting.

Auburn was ranked No. 3 by the coaches and the AP this Sunday after Satuday's 35-31 win over Ole Miss, giving the SEC three of the Top 4 teams: No. 1 Mississippi State, No. 3 Auburn and No. 4 Alabama. The Tigers will try to stay in the Top 4, for that's where the playoff pool will be drawn, starting with next Saturday's 2:30 p.m. home game against Texas A&M.

Auburn debuted at No. 3 in the College Football Playoffs standings, and figures to hold down one of the coveted top four positions when the new standings are released Tuesday night.

Auburn now has quality road wins at Kansas State and Ole Miss.

Auburn was ranked No. 4 by the coaches and the Associated Press last week.

The coaches poll is here.

The AP poll is here.
