AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn will kick off the 2016 football season with five straight home games that includes a season-opening headliner against Clemson and Southeastern Conference games against Texas A&M and LSU.
Auburn will play eight home games after playing seven home games in four of the previous five seasons.
The top-heavy home schedule means Auburn will be in Jordan-Hare Stadium three times the last seven weeks of the season. The SEC set the conference schedule, and announced the complete schedules for all 14 league teams Wednesday.
Auburn will continue its tradition of playing a top-flight non-conference team with Clemson visiting. Clemson is currently ranked third in the country.
The Tigers' early SEC home games are against Texas A&M, coming the third week of the season on Sept. 17, followed by LSU on Sept. 24. The Tigers' other SEC home games are against Arkansas on Oct. 22 and Vanderbilt Nov. 5. The Commodores moved on the schedule as Auburn's SEC East rotating opponent.
Auburn's SEC road games are at Mississippi State on Oct. 8, at Ole Miss on Oct. 29, at Georgia on Nov. 12 and at Alabama on Nov. 26.
The Tigers' other home games are against non-conference opponents Arkansas State on Sept. 10, Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 1 and Alabama A&M on Nov. 19. The Tigers' open date is Oct. 15.
The open date falls between the road game at Mississippi State and a home game against Arkansas. The Alabama A&M game falls between Georgia and Alabama. Both Mississippi State and Vanderbilt have open dates before playing Auburn.
