AUBURN - The No. 3 Auburn football team continued to prepare for Saturday's game at Ole Miss with a workout that lasted close to two hours Wednesday evening at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex.
The Tigers dodged storms in the area for most of the practice, although a heavy downpour near the end of the workout sent the team into the indoor facility for the last portion of practice.
The workout started with special teams drills, before the Tigers moved to individual and position drills. Much of Wednesday's workout focused on work by the offense and defense against the scout teams, with more special teams drills midway through the practice.
Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said that he was pleased with the effort put forth by his squad during Wednesday's workout.
"Overall it was a really good practice," said Chizik. "We were really focused. We have one more day to work and we're going to have to play a really good game to beat these guys in Oxford, so we have to be focused. We have to be right on our game, and we'll have to bring our `A' game with us Saturday night."
Auburn (8-0, 5-0 SEC) owns a 13-0 record against Ole Miss (3-4, 1-3 SEC) in games when the Tigers are nationally ranked. Last year it was Ole Miss that entered the contest with the national ranking, but unranked Auburn pulled a 33-20 upset over the No. 24-ranked Rebels.
The game will be played on Saturday, Oct. 30, marking the Tigers' first game on that date since a 2004 trip to Oxford. The Tigers won that game, 35-14, to clinch the SEC West Division title.
Saturday's game between Auburn and Ole Miss will kick off at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
