AUBURN - To help celebrate Military Appreciation Day, Auburn Athletics has launched a special military-themed merchandise line, which includes sweatshirts, shirts and hats. The items are on sale online at www.aufanshop.com, in the Auburn Team Shop and at other retailers throughout the state. Military Appreciation Day is scheduled for the Oct. 27 football game against Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
Created by Under Armour, Auburn has gone on sale with two styles of hats, a hooded sweatshirt, polo shirt and t-shirt. Ten percent of the sales of these items will go to The Boot Campaign, a non-profit group that donates programs caring for military personnel, past and present, healing from a variety of physical and emotional combat wounds.
"We are excited to support the Boot Campaign on our Military Appreciation Day retail product line," said Jon Sirico, Assistant Athletic Director for Sales and Marketing. "Throughout history Auburn University and its top-ranked ROTC programs have provided countless contributions to America's military. Helping our veteran's and current military personnel is something we are proud to support."
In addition to online and at the AU Team shop, the special merchandise can be found at Alumni Hall, the Auburn University Bookstore, Big Blue Bookstore, Johnston and Malone Bookstore, Wakefield's/Martin's and Tiger Rags.
"The Auburn Athletics Department has a long legacy of giving back and recognizing those who serve within our US Military," Larry Murray, Director of Operations for The Boot Campaign. "We were ecstatic when Auburn officials told us that they were getting their Boots On and helping us show support for Auburn's Military Appreciation Day."
