AUBURN - Auburn sophomore defensive end Corey Lemonier has been nominated for the Defensive Performance of the Year for the All-Star Football Challenge that will air on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. CT, on Feb. 3, 2012. Lemonier was nominated based on his performance in Auburn's 17-6 win over Florida.
From now until the end of Bowl season, the two defensive performances of the week will be featured on the All-Star Football Challenge Facebook page (www.facebook.com/AllStarFootball), along with two top individual performers among quarterbacks, running backs and receivers. The top weekly vote-getter will proceed to the finals, which run Jan. 19-25.
Lemonier had a big game with six tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and four quarterback hurries against the Gators. Lemonier and the Tigers' defense held the Gators to just 194 total yards in the game.
At the other positions, week six nominees include Ohio State's Dan Herron and Virginia's Perry Jones at running back, Boise State's Tyler Shoemaker and Georgia's Marlon Brown at receiver, and McMurry's Jake Mullin and Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill at quarterback.
