Auburn junior defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks was one of five additions to the Watch List for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which recognizes the College Defensive Player of the Year, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.
Marks leads the SEC with eight tackles for loss this season, and has 21 total tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks. Marks, who has started 32 consecutive games, also has two pass break-ups and two quarterback hurries. He now has 28 career tackles for loss, which is second most among active SEC players.
Marks now joins a watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award that includes teammate Antonio Coleman.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced in early November and three finalists for each award will be announced November 25th. The winner of the 2008 Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December. The formal presentation of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah's Entertainment Atlantic City on March 6, 2009.
