AUBURN, Ala.  The nation's leader in punt returns was recognized Monday by the Southeastern Conference for his latest accomplishments.

The SEC named Auburn's Quan Bray its special teams player of the week after he returned a punt 76 yards for a touchdown as part of his three-TD performance in last Saturday's 45-17 win over Louisiana Tech.

Bray leads the nation in punt returns, averaging 36.8 yards per return, and his two returns for touchdowns this season tie the school mark set by Mike Fuller in 1974.

Bray also caught two touchdown passes in last Saturday's win. His 91 yards receiving yards and his 189 all-purpose yards were both a career best.

"Obviously, the two touchdown catches were great, but he's become a great punt returner for us, which is huge. It really lifted our team," said offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee. "He played great all-around. It wasn't like he just had three great plays. He graded out and played well the whole game and that's what we need from him because he's a pretty explosive player. He's got a lot of things he does well. He's smart. He's been in the system for four years and he knows what he's doing."

Other weekly winners were Georgia running back Todd Gurley as the top offensive player, Texas A&M defensive back Deshazor Everett as the top defensive player, Missouri defensive end Shane Ray as the top defensive lineman, Kentucky tackle Darrian Miller as the top offensive lineman and LSU quarterback Brandon Harris as the freshman of the week.

LSU coach Les Miles announced Monday that Harris will make his first college start against Auburn in Saturday's 6 p.m. game in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Harris led LSU to touchdowns on all seven of his possessions in last Saturday's 63-7 win over New Mexico State. He threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more.
