AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn Tigers once again were on the practice fields on Tuesday night as they continued preparations for Saturday's date with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
After an off day on Monday night, the Tigers hit the practice fields in full gear and with an abundance of energy.
"We had a solid practice tonight as we prepare for South Carolina and the different things they do and the different challenges they present," offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said. "Our guys were very upbeat. They had good energy in practice. Overall, I thought it was a good practice."
Auburn practiced for two hours on the outdoor practice fields.
Speaking specifically about USC's defense, Malzahn was quick to note the Gamecocks' speed and experience.
"[South Carolina] have a lot of speed," Malzahn said." They have just about everybody back from last year's defense. You can tell they are a year older and they really play hard. They are extremely well-coached. They are very good at what they do. They've got some difference-makers up front and some extremely good players in the back end as well."
The Tigers (3-1, 1-0 SEC) and South Carolina (4-0, 1-0 SEC) kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. The game will be televised by CBS.
Auburn will be making its first trip to Columbia since 2006. The game will be the 11th meeting between the two teams. In the month of October, Auburn will play four consecutive games against teams currently ranked in the top 20 of the Associated Press poll, including three in the top 12.
