Auburn will play its first night home game of the season still ranked in the Top 25.

The Tigers meet Mississippi State at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium on ESPN2 ranked No. 25 in the coaches poll Sunday. The Tigers, 2-1, will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's 45-21 loss to LSU. Mississippi State, also 2-1, is among the teams that are outside of the Top 25 but are receiving votes.

LSU moved up to No. 9 with its win. Five SEC West teams are ranked.

Coach Gus Malzahn said Auburn showed energy in the second half against LSU.

"Our guys kept fighting, that was the positive. But we've got to get better, and we're going to get better," he said after the game.

The Associated Press poll was to be released later Sunday.
