AUBURN - The Auburn football team (2-1) went through a 50 minute practice session on Sunday night in helmets and shorts it begins preparations for its upcoming meeting with Florida Atlantic (0-2).
Coming off a 38-24 loss at Clemson on Saturday, the Tigers spent Sunday watching film from the game before practice. Inconsistency and missed tackles were two main issues defensive coordinator Ted Roof saw after reviewing game film.
"We were very inconsistent. We started off the game playing really well and then we hit a spurt there where we could not get off the field on third down," said Roof. "We missed a bunch of tackles that kept drives alive, resulting in yards and points. We have to do a better job of coaching our kids to make those tackles."
Auburn will not practice Monday, but will reconvene on Tuesday afternoon to continue preparations for Florida Atlantic. It will be the first meeting between the Tigers and Owls, who are members of the Sun Belt Conference. Auburn will be the second SEC opponent for FAU after the Owls opened the season at Florida.
Auburn and Florida Atlantic will kickoff at 6 p.m. CT, Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net. It will be the first night game for the Tigers as their first three games of the season were played before Noon.
