AUBURN, Ala. — The team that will travel fewer miles than any big-time school in America this year will hit the road for games in five states next season.
Auburn will play at Clemson, Missouri, LSU, Arkansas and Texas A&M before finishing the regular season with three straight home games in 2017, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday night.
The schedule features three straight conference road games — at LSU, Arkansas and Texas A&M. The Tigers are the only team with three consecutive SEC road games. Auburn finishes the season in Jordan-Hare Stadium against Georgia, Louisiana-Monroe and Alabama.
Auburn is opening the 2016 season with five straight home games. Four of the first six games are at home next year. The Tigers won't have a home game for more than a month in the middle of the 2017 season.
Auburn will open next season at home against Georgia Southern on Sept. 2 before traveling to Clemson on Sept. 9. Auburn then will play host to Mercer before making its first-ever trip to Missouri on Sept. 23. Auburn then will play Mississippi State and Ole Miss at home in consecutive weekends.
The Tigers then really hit the road for games at LSU on Oct. 14, at Arkansas on Oct. 21, get an open date Oct. 28 before playing at Texas A&M on Nov. 4.
Auburn will finish at home against Georgia on Nov. 11, Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 18 and will host the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25.
Auburn has eight home games this season. It'll have seven home games next year because it is playing non-conference Clemson on the road, a return date for Clemson's visit to Jordan-Hare this season.
