Ryan Pugh Named To Rimington Trophy Watch List
Aug. 26, 2010
AUBURN - Auburn senior Ryan Pugh is one of 37 players that has been named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, it was announced on Thursday. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the top center in the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision. Pugh has started 31 games for the Tigers during his career, including all 25 games at center over the past two seasons. He was selected to the Associated Press All-SEC second team following the 2009 season after leading the team with 70 knockdown blocks, and was named a preseason second-team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches last month. The Rimington Trophy committee determines its winner based on the All-America team selections from the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Foundation, the Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America. The center with the most first-team votes on those four All-America teams will be determined the winner. If there is a tie with first-team votes, then the center with most second-team votes will win. If there is still a tie, the winner will be determined by the Rimington Trophy committee. The winner will be honored at the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 15, 2011.
