AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn football team returned to the practice fields late Sunday afternoon, practicing in shells under cool skies for close to two hours.
The workout came one day after Auburn's third scrimmage, and gave the Tigers a chance to fix any mistakes that were observed during the scrimmage. After special teams drills, the team spent a considerable amount of practice with individual and position drills before concluding with team work.
Following the practice, head coach Gene Chizik stated that he was pleased with the team's focus and ability to correct recent mistakes.
"I thought we practiced well today," said Chizik. "The weather certainly helped but I thought we had a really focused practiced on both sides of the ball and on special teams. We got a lot of things corrected that we needed to get corrected over the last couple of days, especially yesterday after looking at the tape after our situational scrimmage. It was a good day today."
The Tigers have now held 20 practices since camp opened on Aug. 5. Auburn will take Monday off before returning to the practice fields on Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. CT.
The Tigers will open the 2009 season Sept. 5 vs. Louisiana Tech at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. CT and be televised by ESPNU.
