AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn's 1,000-yard rusher and the player who'll anchor the offensive line are among the Tigers honored by SEC coaches on their preseason all-conference team announced Thursday.
Tailback Tre Mason and center Reese Dismukes landed spots on the All-SEC second team offense. Auburn place-kicker Cody Parkey and punter Steven Clark also are second-team selections.
Defensive end Dee Ford and tight end C.J. Uzomah landed spots on the third team.
Mason rushed for 1,002 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Dismukes, who was a freshman All-American two years ago, has been praised for his leadership by Gus Malzahn's coaching staff.
Clark averaged 39.8 yards per punt during a busy 2012 season. Only five of 70 punts were returned. Clark was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, which goes to the nation's top punter, in 2011; and a semifinalist for the award last season.
Parkey hit 11 of 14 field goal tries, including nine straight. Thirty-three of his 48 kickoffs last year were touchbacks.
Uzomah's role will likely increase this season. He had seven catches for 136 yards and a touchdown last season. Ford won't start the season on the field. He's been slowed by a knee injury. But the Tigers are counting on the pass rusher to bounce back. He had 34 tackles, including six sacks, last season.
