AUBURN - The Auburn football team practiced in shells for a little more than an hour under cool and windy conditions Friday at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex.
Friday's practice was more mental than physical for the Tigers, who will also take Saturday off, in an effort to rest prior to beginning game-week preparations for the season opener against Louisiana-Monroe. Friday's practice was the 24th in the last 20 days for Auburn, with just one day off during that period.
"We went through everything we could possibly think of," said head coach Tommy Tuberville. "We covered it all with first and second teams. We did basically scout team stuff no contact. It was mental preparation more than physical, trying to get a little fresher for Sunday's practice. A lot of guys are tired and looking forward to having some time off."
Sunday's practice at the Athletics Complex practice fields is slated to begin at 3 p.m. CT.
Auburn's season opener is August 30 when the Tigers host Louisiana-Monroe at 6 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Single-game tickets are available for the Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee-Martin home games. To purchase tickets visit www.auburntigers.com or call 800-AUB-1957.
