AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn football team completed its 13th practice of Fall Camp on Monday, working out in full pads for two-and-a-half hours on the Athletics Complex practice fields.

The Tigers opened with special teams work before moving to individual and position drills. After more special teams, much of the rest of the practice pitted the offense against the defense in team drills.

After practice, head coach Gene Chizik stated that he was pleased with the physical way the team practiced heading into Tuesday's scrimmage.

"Today was a little more physical of a practice, it was full pads," said Chizik. "We have a scrimmage tomorrow, so most of the day was physical contact, but not bringing anyone to the ground. We were trying to learn and keep installing, we know we are getting ready for school to start so we are trying to narrow down the guys we feel like we are going to play with in two-and-a-half weeks."

Nearing the end of Fall Camp, a good portion of the practice was spent on 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 situations, pitting the offense against the defense in game situations.

"It is back and forth, you get some good things on both sides and things you can learn from on both sides," said Chizik. "A lot of good things by the offense, some really good explosive plays, but we still have to be able to hunker in there and run the football consistently and we are still looking for that.

"Defensively, we are working at stopping the big plays, obviously anytime you have an explosive play on offense, defensively you have to look at where your break downs are."

The Tigers will have their final two-a-day session of practices on Tuesday. The first practice will begin at 9:55 a.m. CT, while the second will be a scrimmage in Jordan-Hare Stadium at 6 p.m. CT. All practices are closed to the public.

Auburn opens the 2010 season on Sept. 4 against Arkansas State at 6 p.m. CT in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net.
