Nick Marshall looks to pass in Auburn's fall practice

AUBURN, Ala. — Nick Marshall's success last season hasn't been forgotten heading into this season.
The Auburn quarterback was named to the Manning Award watch list Thursday, the fourth such preseason nomination for a national award for the senior. The Manning Award goes to the nation's top quarterback. Cam Newton won the award after the 2010 season.
Marshall is also on the watch lists for the Walter Camp Award which goes to the nation's top college football player; the Davey O'Brien Award, which goes to the top quarterback; and the Maxwell Award, which goes to the top player.
Marshall passed for almost 2,000 yards and ran for another 1,000 yards last season while accounting for 26 touchdowns and helping to a 12-2 record, the SEC title and a spot in the national championship game.
Marshall isn't alone in preseason notice. Auburn center Reese Dismukes is on the watch lists the Lombardi, Outland and Rimington awards.
Defensive lineman Gabe Wright is on the watch list for the Outland and the Bronco Nagurski awards.
Sammie Coates is on the watch list for the Bilentikoff Award and the Maxwell. Kris Frost is on the watch list for the Butkus Award. C.J. Uzomah is on the watch list for the Mackey Award, which goes to the s top tight end. Robenson Therezie is on the watch list for Chuck Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation's top defensive player.
Guard Alex Kozan is on the watch list for the Outland, though he's now out for the season following back surgery.
