AUBURN, Ala. – Pittsburgh Steelers’ scout Mark Gorscak was on hand to watch Auburn’s fourth practice of the preseason Monday afternoon.
Gorscak took particular interest in the offensive line. He played center at Dickinson College and coached the offensive line at Weber State for eight years before joining the Steelers.
Gorscak smiled as Auburn offensive line coach>J.B. Grimes could be heard over the sounds of practices.
“We’re all the same,” he said.
Soccer recruiting gets a helping hand from Malzahn
Head soccer coach Karen Hoppa brought a recruit to practice on Monday. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn took time out to meet the recruit, chat with her briefly and give her a high five before heading back onto the field.
McNeal not ready for action
Senior safety Demetruce McNeal, nursing what Malzahn calls a health issue, was on the field Monday. He was wearing a helmet, but no shoulder pads.
In McNeal’s absence, sophomore Josh Holsey continued to work at safety. He moved from cornerback late in the spring and could play either position.
Riggins checks out the Tigers
Former linebacker Quentin Riggins, the sideline reporter for Auburn radio broadcasts, was a practice visitor.
Compared to previous seasons, few visitors are allowed inside to watch as the Tigers prepare for Malzahn’s first season as head coach.
