July 19, 2007

JACKSON'S GAP, Ala. - Seven Auburn football seniors visited Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, Ala., Wednesday, interacting with the Camp's staff and children and adults with disabilities.

Cole Bennett, Tez Doolittle, Zach Gilbert, Quentin Groves, Brandon Haley, Carl Stewart and Josh Thompson visited the Camp.

Camp ASCCA stands for "Alabama Special Camp for Children and Adults with disabilities." The Camp's mission is to help children and adults with disabilities achieve equality, dignity and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation and education in a year-round, barrier-free environment.

"We went to be there with kids with disabilities who aren't as fortunate as us, but they are fortunate because they try hard and they have fun," Thompson said. "We had a great time with them. We talked to them and they asked us questions. It was a great time and a good experience."
