AUBURN, Ala. -- Seniors Dee Ford, Jay Prosch and Chris Davis will be the face of the Auburn football program at SEC Media Days on July 17. The university selected those three players to join coach Gus Malzahn at the annual event in Hoover.

Ford, a defensive end, has already drawn attention this preseason. He was named Monday to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation's top defensive player.

Malzahn knows Ford's potential.

"I've talked about him before being a pass rushing guy. He can really put some pressure on the quarterback," he has said.

Ford enters his final college season with 64 tackles, 13 of which were for a loss. He had 34 tackles last season, including 6.5 for a loss.

It was a bounce-back year for Ford, who only played three games in 2011 before a back injury sidelined his season.

Prosch, who is primarily a blocking back, is in second year at Auburn after transferring from Illinois to be closer to his family. He made the move after his mother, Iris, was diagnosed with cancer. She died Sept 3 and Prosch played five days later. His unselfish style made him a fan favorite.

Auburn rewarded him with nine carries good for 31 yards and two touchdowns last season after having only two carries in two years at Illinois. He also caught five passes last season.

Davis, a defensive back, has made 16 starts, though he missed three games late last season because of an injury. He returned in the season-finale against Alabama to record seven tackles. He has 120 tackles in his career.
