AUBURN, Ala. -- Two high-flying offensive players and a defender who appropriately plays the "Star" position at Auburn were named to watch lists for national awards Monday.

Quarterback Nick Marshall and receiver Sammie Coates are on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to college football's top college player. Robenson Therezie is on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which goes to the top defender.

Marshall passed for 1,976 yards and rushed for 1,068 more last season. He directed Auburn's offense into the BCS title game. Coates caught 42 passes for 902 yards and seven touchdowns. His average of 21.5 yards per catch was one of the best in the country.

Therezie had a team-best four interceptions and made 57 tackles.
