AUBURN - The Auburn football team will play a home-and-home series with Clemson in 2010 and 2011, announced Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs Thursday. Clemson will visit Auburn on Sept. 18, 2010, in Jordan-Hare Stadium, with Auburn making a return trip to Clemson on Sept. 17, 2011, in Memorial Stadium.

"We're very pleased about adding Clemson to our schedule in 2010 and 2011," Jacobs said. "Clemson has an outstanding program, and it will be exciting to renew a rivalry that dates back over 100 years.

"This is a continuation of our commitment to schedule quality non-conference opponents. The SEC-ACC match-up is one that all Auburn and Clemson fans can look forward to. The home-and-home series will also be beneficial to both schools' fans with both campuses being so close in proximity."

Auburn is 32-11-2 all-time against Clemson with the last meeting being a 21-17 Auburn victory on Jan. 1, 1998, at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The two schools last met in the regular season on Oct. 23, 1971, at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with Auburn defeating Clemson, 35-13.

The schools first met on the football field in 1899.
