Chris Davis is on his way to fame against Alabama
By Charles Goldberg
AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn's dramatic Iron Bowl win and two of the most memorable plays in Tigers' football history have been nominated for ESPY awards, ESPN announced Tuesday.
The Tigers' last-second 34-28 victory over Alabama is up for the Best Game, and the play that made it possible, Chris Davis and his 109-yard return of a missed field goal for the winning TD, is up for the Best Play.
Ricardo Louis' Prayer in Jordan-Hare last-minute catch against Georgia is also nominated for the Best Play.
Auburn's competition in the Best Game category is Indianapolis' 45-44 win over Kansas City in the NFL playoffs, and Los Angeles' double-overtime win over New York for the Stanley Cup championship.
Fans can vote here at ESPN. Uh-oh. Davis' return and Louis' catch would meet in Round Two of the bracket should they both advance in the early voting.
The winners will be announced July 16 on ESPN.
