Jason Bosley Named To Rimington Trophy Watch List

May 7, 2008

AUBURN - Auburn senior center Jason Bosley is one of 42 players nationally who have been named to the 2008 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List. Now in its ninth year, the Rimington Trophy recognizes the most outstanding center in college football.

Bosley started all 13 games at center for Auburn last season, and has made 16 starts during his career. A member of the 2007 Rimington Trophy Watch List as well, Bosley led the Tigers' offensive line in overall grade five times last season (Kansas State, South Florida, Mississippi State, Florida, LSU). He was also awarded the Pat Dye Leadership Award by the Auburn coaches in March of 2008 following spring drills.

The Rimington Trophy is named for Dave Rimington, a consensus first team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982 when he became the Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's premiere college interior lineman. The trophy is hosted by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which was created by Esiason in 1993 to support research and treatment of cystic fibrosis. Esiason and Rimington were teammates on the Cincinnati Bengals from 1984-87.

Past winners include West Virginia's Dan Mozes, Minnesota's Greg Eslinger, Michigan's David Baas (2004 co-winner), LSU's Ben Wilkerson (2004 co-winner), Virginia Tech's Jake Grove, Miami's Brett Romberg, Ohio State's LeCharles Bentley, Nebraska's Dominic Raiola and Arkansas' Jonathan Luigs.

The winner is selected by determining the consensus All-American center pick from four existing All-America Teams: the American Football Coaches Association, the Walter Camp Foundation, The Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America.

The center with the most first-team votes will be determined the winner. If there is a tie with first team votes, then the center with most second-team votes will win. If there is still a tie, the winner will be determined by the Rimington Trophy committee.

The winner will be honored at an awards banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb., on January 17, 2009.
