AUBURN - The Auburn football team continued its 2011 spring practices with a two-hour workout Monday morning at Hutsell-Rosen Track and the Auburn Soccer Complex.
The Tigers practiced in shells and shorts on a warm but windy day during the 11th of 15 spring practices for the team. The Tigers are now just five days away from Saturday's A-Day game and are just one week from the end of spring practices.
Monday`s practice began with special teams drills, before the Tigers moved on to individual and position drills. After more special teams drills, the offensive and defensive units worked against each other during the final periods of practice.
Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said that Monday's practice gave the team a chance to correct mistakes found during Saturday's scrimmage in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
"Today was very similar to last Monday, as we had an in depth chance to look at our film from Saturday and try to go back and really touch up some areas that we felt like needed to be addressed," said Chizik. "There was not a lot of new installation today, but just trying to go back and correct a lot of things from Saturday's scrimmage, but it was a good day."
Chizik also noted that the team has continued to perform admirably despite being worn down by the series of spring practices.
"I was proud of them today," said Chizik. "It's day 11, and they're tired and physically they're beat up. But today it was as physical as it could be."
The Tigers will return to the practice fields on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. CT.
