The Auburn football team practiced for 90 minutes in shells Thursday afternoon on the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex.
The Tigers, who are in their third week of spring practice, opened Thursday's session with field goals and special teams work, before splitting into position drills. The offense and defense worked against each other to close out practice.
"Today was more of a teaching-type day," head football coach Gene Chizik said. "We wanted to slow it down and polish up some things. We're going to have our second scrimmage on Saturday, so our idea today was to slow it down and teach. It was not as much contact, but it was more into technique and polishing up some things."
Special to Thursday's practice was the attendance of hundreds of high school coaches who are in Auburn for a coaching clinic.
"It's really neat to have so many high school coaches here and to rekindle a lot of relationships," Chizik said. "There are so many good friends and we're happy to have all of these coaches here."
The Tigers are just nine days away from A-Day presented by the U.S. Navy, which will be held April 18 at 1 p.m. CT at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
