AUBURN -- The Auburn Tigers conducted an officiated scrimmage Saturday morning at Jordan-Hare Stadium, running nearly 100 snaps.

"Today, I thought we got a lot accomplished out there," said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. "We had between 90-100 plays and did some good special teams work. The overlying theme was about what we expected - offensively we did some good things and some poor things and vice versa on defense. We'll get a chance to evaluate the film and see where we're at.

"The good news is we got out of it relatively healthy - they're tired and beat-up but they pushed through it today. It was about what we expected.

"I feel like we attempted to run the football against eight/nine-man front defenses, which are as tough as you're going to get - at times I thought we did it well and at times I thought we did it poorly. Overall, trying to establish the mentality of trying to run the ball - that was definitely part of the plan.

"But on both sides of the ball there were some good things. The defense did a nice job with some takeaways - good for the defense, bad for the offense. "

The Tigers return to the practice field Monday morning in the final week of preparation for A-Day on Sat., April 14, when Auburn will unveil statues commemorating the school's three Heisman Trophy winners, Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson, and Cam Newton, in a ceremony at 10 a.m. CT prior to Auburn's annual spring game. The ceremony will take place on the east side of Jordan-Hare Stadium, where each statue will be permanently located. Sullivan, Jackson and Newton are scheduled to be in attendance for the event.
