AUBURN - The Auburn football team continued its 2011 spring practices with a two-hour workout Wednesday morning at Hutsell-Rosen Track and the Auburn Soccer Complex.
The Tigers practiced in full pads under clear, sunny skies during the ninth of 15 spring practices for the team. The squad will now get a two-day break for the first time since spring practices began, with the next workout not scheduled until Saturday's scrimmage in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Wednesday`s practice began with special teams drills, before the Tigers moved on to individual and position drills. After more special teams drills, the offensive and defensive units worked against each other in a half scrimmage for the remainder of practice.
Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said that Wednesday' practice was a productive one for his squad.
"It was a good day today," said Chizik. "We got some goals accomplished today that we set out to do before practice. It was a practice that was half-way geared to cleaning some things up, really working on a lot of technique and issues that are out there that I didn't feel like we're quite where we need to be yet.
"There were a lot of good teaching moments, and a lot of things that I think we'll be able to polish up to be ready for Saturday's scrimmage."
Saturday's scrimmage will take place inside Jordan-Hare Stadium at 10 a.m. CT. The scrimmage is closed to the media and public.
Auburn's annual spring football game, A-Day, will be held Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. CT at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Tickets are $5 for general fans and free for AU students with an Auburn Ignited card.
