Auburn Football Practice Report
April 4, 2012
AUBURN -- The Auburn football team practiced two hours Wednesday morning in full pads, and head coach Gene Chizik was pleased with his squad's progress. "Today we made some strides," said Chizik. "We had a huge emphasis on running the football and defending the run, and did some good red zone work. Overall, it was a full pad day, and we took a step forward in trying to be physical. "We did a good bit of 11-on-11 today - some of it was situational, some of it was a little bit live. We wanted to get the officials out there for the different formations and make sure we're doing everything right. "We're not satisfied by any means, but our guys are working in the right direction. I like their attitude and their effort moving forward, and they've done that every day. But I don't feel like there's a comfort level right now with any phase." The Tigers return to the practice field Friday morning, with just five practices remaining before A-Day on Sat., April 14. Auburn will unveil statues commemorating the school's three Heisman Trophy winners, Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson, and Cam Newton, in a ceremony Sat., April 14, at 10 a.m. CT prior to Auburn's annual spring game, A-Day. The ceremony will take place on the east side of Jordan-Hare Stadium, where each statue will be permanently located. Sullivan, Jackson and Newton are scheduled to be in attendance for the event. A-Day tickets are $5 for general fans and free for AU students with an Auburn Ignited card. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid waiting in line on April 14.
