AUBURN-- The Auburn football team held its first full scrimmage of spring with a two hour session at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday. The Tigers ran approximately 120 plays while working on all phases of the game.
Head Coach Gene Chizik said following practice that he was pleased with his team's effort, but noted there is much work to be done over the course of the final two weeks of spring drills.
"It was a good day's work today as we were able to get in 100-120 plays and had a good dose of special teams, including the kickoff and punt return game," Chizik said. "We had really good work on both sides of the ball. The main thing I was pleased with was the effort and energy level, which was very good.
Saturday's work saw the Tigers concentrate on the tempo on both sides of the ball.
"We worked a lot on pace on both sides of the ball," Chizik said. "That was the emphasis of today's scrimmage. There were some good things and bad things on both sides of the ball today, so we'll continue to try to get better each week this spring."
The scrimmage marked the half-way point of spring drills as the Tigers will have eight more practices, culminating with the annual spring football game, A-Day, will be held Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. CT at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Auburn will take Sunday off before returning to the practice fields Monday morning at the track and soccer facility.
Tickets for A-Day are $5 for general fans and free for AU students with an Auburn Ignited card. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid waiting in line on April 16. To purchase tickets visit www.aubtix.com.
