AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn football team held its sixth practice of the spring season Friday morning, working out for more than two hours under sunny skies at the Athletics Complex practice fields.

Practicing in shorts and shells, the team worked on game situations and some 11-on-11 drills in preparation of Saturday's scrimmage. It will be the first true scrimmage for the team as last Saturday's practice was the first in full pads for the Tigers.

Following Friday's practice, head coach Gene Chizik said he was pleased with the tempo and energy the team displayed during the workout.

"Practice today was good, it was up-tempo and there was some energy out there today," said Chizik. "We are slowly but surely getting better at little things day-by-day, which is encouraging to see, but we have by no means arrived. We are still a very inconsistent team, but we have made strides in trying to build on the important things that are going to get us to that consistency stage."

Chizik is looking forward to seeing how the team applies what has been covered so far in Saturday's scrimmage at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

"Tomorrow will be different in that it will be more of a true scrimmage-type atmosphere," said Chizik. "It will be more of 11-on-11, moving the ball and dealing with different situations that come up as part of the scrimmage. We will also work on some special teams situations."

The closed scrimmage at Jordan-Hare Stadium will begin at 10 a.m. CT, Saturday.

Auburn's annual A-Day game will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 1 p.m. CT in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Tickets are $5 for general fans and free for AU students with an Auburn Ignited card.
