Auburn Football Practice Report
March 26, 2010
AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn football team returned to the practice fields Friday as it held its second practice of the spring in helmets and shorts. The Tigers will move to full pads for Saturday morning's practice. The practice lasted just over two hours, and followed a similar format to Wednesday's opening practice, with emphasis on individual and position drills, with some 7-on-7 drills mixed in. Following Friday's practice, head coach Gene Chizik said that there was marked improvement by the squad from Wednesday's workout. "The second day I thought was better," said Chizik. "I thought the tempo was better, and it needed to be. The excitement of the first day was gone so today was more of a focus on the details of the things that we didn't do very well (Wednesday). We have a long way to go but the tempo of practice was really good, and it was a good learning day." Chizik also noted that practices seem to be running more smoothly this spring than last simply because it is the second spring season for the current coaching staff. "There's a whole different mentality simply because I don't think there are as many question marks for everybody," said Chizik. "(Last year you had) players trying to figure out the coaches, coaches trying to figure out the players - you spend half your time trying to figure each other out, so it's definitely different." Auburn will practice on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. CT on the Athletic Complex practice fields.
