AUBURN, Ala. ― Kyle Davis came to Auburn as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the nation when he enrolled in January.

Now, he knows, it's a whole new ballgame.

"I'm in college now and that doesn't mean anything," he says.

Davis was one of nine January enrollees in the 2016 signing class, and comes to Auburn with some lofty high school stats. He had 1,499 yards and 18 touchdowns in his career, including 47 catches for 773 yards as a senior at Archer High in Loganville, Ga. He was the No. 1 receiver in the country in the fall, as rated by the 247 Composite index. And he smiles when he talks about his speed. "I'm fast enough," he said. "I get to where I'm going."

His participation in spring practice will be monitored after minor shoulder surgery after his senior year. Still, he figures he's getting a jump on most of the signing class as an early enrollee.

"That's very important," Davis said. "I don't want to come in right before the season be overwhelmed. I wanted to balance my time and get a good start.

"I'm going to do what I can to make an impact early, even rehabbing."

Davis chose Auburn over Georgia and Tennessee.

"I was conflicted trying to pick because all three are good schools," he said. "But I broke down the pros and cons, and the pros for Auburn blew everything out of the water. My parents are happy. I'm happy. That's all that matters."
