AUBURN, AL--Auburn Team Physician Dr. Michael Goodlett is one of only two college team physicians invited to next week's NFL Combine.
Goodlett will observe physicals performed on the athletes and participate in educational meetings with NFL team physicians.
The goals of the program, founded by the National Football League Physicians Society, are as follows:
Foster a good, working relationship between college team physicians and NFL physicians
To co-educate each other regarding relevant sports-related medical and orthopaedic issues in college and the NFL
To give college team physicians perspective on what happens at the combines so they can address issues back home when student-athletes are preparing for the combines.
Goodlett, who has served the past two decades as the Head Team Physician for all Auburn student-athletes, is also a past winner of the SEC Physician of the Year Award.
A native of Moulton, Ala., Goodlett graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Alabama with a bachelor of science in Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile.
He completed his family medicine residency training at the University of Alabama-Birmingham/Baptist Memorial Hospital. He is a certified Team Physician-American College of Sports Medicine and a charter member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine.
