Auburn Announces 2007 Football Schedule
Feb. 13, 2007
The Auburn football team will open the 2007 season with four consecutive home games, including a season opener against Big 12 opponent Kansas State. It will mark the third all-time meeting between Auburn and Kansas State and first since the Tigers defeated the Wildcats, 26-18, in 1979 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Auburn's season opener against Kansas State will be on Sept. 1, followed by BIG EAST opponent South Florida on Sept. 8 at Jordan-Hare. Kansas State and South Florida both played in bowl games in 2006.
Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Alabama will be Auburn's Southeastern Conference home games at Jordan-Hare Stadium, while the Tigers will have a difficult conference road schedule with games at Florida, Arkansas, LSU and Georgia. The 2006 combined record of Auburn's four road opponents was 43-11 (.796).
The Tigers open SEC play on Sept. 15 with Mississippi State at Jordan-Hare Stadium and host New Mexico State on Sept. 22 before embarking on a stretch of three road games in four weeks.
Auburn will play at 2006 National Champion Florida on Sept. 29 before playing host to Vanderbilt on Oct. 6 for the first time since 2002. After the Vanderbilt game, Auburn will play back-to-back road games at Arkansas (Oct. 13) and LSU (Oct. 20)
Auburn will host Ole Miss (Oct. 27) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 3) and travel to Georgia on Nov. 10. The Tigers will have an open week on Nov. 17 before entertaining Alabama on Nov. 24. It will mark the first time since 1992 that Auburn and Alabama will play on Thanksgiving weekend. The two played on Thanksgiving Day in 1992.
