Auburn's Gus Malzahn will be back on the field March 10

AUBURN, Ala.  Auburn's new-look defense will take the field for the first time when spring practice begins March 10. Coach Gus Malzahn announced the starting date Wednesday.

Auburn will practice through the A-Day Game on April 18. The start-to-finish run covers 5½ weeks, though the Tigers will be off March 23-28 for spring break.

Auburn's defense feature a new coordinator in Will Muschamp and two new defensive assistant coaches in Travaris Robinson and Lance Thompson.

Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee will have work to do as well, namely finding replacements for starting quarterback Nick Marshall, running back Cameron Artis-Payne, receiver Sammie Coates and center Reese Dismukes.

Feb. 4: Signing day
March 3: Pro Day
March 10: Start of spring practice
March 23-28: Spring break
April 18: A-Day Game
Sept. 5: Season-opener against Louisville in Atlanta
