PASADENA, Calif. -- Auburn offensive lineman Alex Kozan was named a freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America on Monday.
His coach, Gus Malzahn, was honored by the association Saturday with the Eddie Robinson national coach of the year award.
Kozan has started all 13 games for Auburn, and will be in the starting lineup again Monday night when the Tigers play Florida State for the BCS national championship. He's helped make Auburn the No. 1 rushing team in the NCAA. He was named to the All-SEC freshman team as well.
Kozan's Tigers will face fellow freshman All-American Jameis Winston, a quarterback of note, in the BCS title game.
There are 21 true freshmen and seven redshirt freshmen, including Kozan, on the select team.
The complete Football Writers' freshman All-American team is here.
