Jan. 5, 2015

Charlie Harbison is leaving Auburn after two seasons

By Charles Goldberg

AUBURN, Ala.  Auburn continued to reshape its defensive coaching staff Sunday when it told secondary coach Charlie Harbison he would not be retained.

"I want to thank Charlie for his contributions to our program," said coach Gus Malzahn. "He was a true professional that was a positive example for our players."

He coached the secondary and was co-defensive coordinator the last two seasons.

Auburn hired Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator to replace Ellis Johnson after the regular season, and hired Travaris Robinson on Saturday to replace Melvin Smith. Robinson will coach the cornerbacks.

Harbison was in charge of the defense in the Outback Bowl.
