Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Auburn Logo Head Coach Gus Malzahn

Opening Statement...

"A hard fought victory on the road. We knew there would be adversity. They have been playing great at home all year. They have a big time quarterback and they have really fast receivers. Really proud of our defense as far as adjustments in the second half to hold that group to seven points. I think our third-down defense was outstanding in the second half. We had a couple fourth-down stops that were huge. Offensively we were able to run the football. Kamryn Pettway is starting to establish himself as one of the top guys in the country. He is getting better every time out. Our offense presented some different looks. We had to make some adjustments. I thought (Offensive Coordinator Rhett Lashlee) did a really good job with adjustments. Really just a huge win in a tough place to play. We are glad to get out of here with a victory. Probably the big thing is how you win. Halftime was a dog fight and the third quarter was a dog fight."

On Josh Holsey interception...

"It was probably the play of the game. At that point it was kind of back and forth. He flipped the field and gave the offense a short field. I think we were able to score there, a touchdown. That was really the play of the game."

On the interception cont...

"We were close. There was no doubt. You have to give them credit. That quarterback had an outstanding night. The receivers had an outstanding night. They are a really good team. They present a lot of challenges."

Secondary playing tighter in the second half...

"We started getting up on them a little bit. We played a little bit of cover two to try and keep them from the short ones. They are a good offense. They are one of the best offenses in college football. When they are playing at home they are really tough."

On Sean White...

"When we named him the starter I said the same thing. He's better, he's a great leader. He's going to make plays regardless of the situation, so if things break down he's going to make it with his legs, if things don't break down he's going to make it with his arm. He's the leader of this team, he knows how to run this offense in and out, and I expect him to keep making plays."

On Sean White's leadership...

"He's ready for the moment. If you ask him to do something he's going to get it done. He might not have to week in and week out, but when we need him to we know he will."

On adversity on the road...

"Ole Miss, I mean whatever their record is, they're a very talented team. They've been up on a lot of good teams, up on Florida State and Alabama, so we knew we were going to have to face adversity. We were down points, we knew we had to come back and win, and we did that."

On SEC road games...

"It's what the SEC is all about, it is close games. It's fun, especially when you come out with a win on the road, in the SEC it's really hard to do. Hats off to those guys they're a really good football team."

On Chad Kelly...

"He was slinging it, everybody knows he's one of the best players out there. Like I said, they had some really good players and they made a lot of good plays. We just found a way to keep fighting and win."

On pregame interaction with fans...

"They were talking crap to us which is fine, we probably deserved it I guess. It is what it is. They have good fans. I have nothing against any of them. As a center you have to keep your mind focused on what you have to do, you can't really get involved in all of that."
