FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Comeback Auburn came up just short in a four-overtime game at Razorback Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers, down by 14 points early and trailing by a touchdown in the fourth quarter, tied the game with four seconds left in regulation, but lost 54-46 when a final comeback pass fell incomplete in the end zone.

Daniel Carlson's 41-yard field goal tied the game at 24-24, sending the game into overtime. Auburn took its first lead of the game in the first overtime.  The teams traded touchdowns, and in some cases, 2-point conversions from there.

Auburn took a 46-38 lead in the third overtime when Peyton Barber scored his fourth touchdown of the game, and Sean White completed a 2-point conversion pass to Melvin Ray. Arkansas answered, scoring on a fourth-and-2 play and converting on a 2-point conversion pass.

Arkansas scored first in the fourth overtime. Auburn had one more chance, but came up short.

Auburn's Peyton Barber scored four touchdowns and rushing for 120 yards, doing much of his good work in overtime. White completed 19 of 34 passes for 254 yards. Coach Gus Malzahn said the Tigers would have had more passing yards if not for drops.

Auburn had a 96-yard drive, its longest of the season.

Jeremy Johnson, the former starter, came in to quarterback Auburn for one play, and scored on a 1-yard run to tie Arkansas in the fourth quarter. The Hogs went up by 3, then it was game on for everybody.

Jason Smith scored on a 9-yard run on his first-ever Auburn carry.

Auburn finished the first half and started the second half in strong fashion after a sleepy start for the 11 a.m. game. Both teams piled on the points in overtime.
