Responsibility: Oversees Auburn's department of 12 certified full-time staff and 11 certified graduate assistants.

Professional Experience: Spent six and a half years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Middle Tennessee State University, overseeing medical care given to the athletes of 18 different varsity sports. Prior to MTSU, spent six years as the athletic trainer and therapist at The Healthsouth Sports Medicine Center in Tampa, Florida. Was the assistant athletic trainer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1987 to 1996. From 1981 to 1987, was the assistant athletic trainer at Ole Miss. For five years, worked as an athletic trainer for the New York Yankees Fantasy Camp and also was a volunteer athletic trainer for Florida College and Hillsborough High School football. Summer assistant athletic trainer for the New York Jets in Hempstead, N.Y., in 1979 and 1980.

Personal: Earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt in 1980 and a Master's of Science from the University of South Florida in 1994. He and his wife, Allyson, have twin sons, Chas and Michael. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Petrone is also a member of the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association.
