Auburn, Nick Marshall on target in A-Day Game

Gus Malzahn wasn't kidding when he said he had Auburn football team working on the passing game in spring practice. Nick Marshall completed 13-of-22 passes for 236 yards and four touchdowns to lead the first-team Blue offense to a 58-3 win Auburn's A-Day Game in front of 70,645 fans in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The team that led the SEC in rushing last season gave opponents something else to think about in 2014. "Our emphasis was obviously throwing the football," Malzahn said. "It was good to see our guys throwing and catching the ball in front of a crowd."

Phillip Marshall: 'A big blessing' for Duke Williams

For more than an hour after Auburn's A-Day game, D'haquille Williams signed his named and posed for pictures. Standing near the spot where Chris Davis turned for corner and ran into Auburn history on Nov. 30, Williams scarcely had room to move.

Phillip Marshall: What will A-Day game show today?

When I sat down to write this column, I was going to write about the storylines for today's A-Day game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. I was going to write about newcomers like wide receiver D'haquille Williams and safety Derrick Moncrief, about who would replace Jay Prosch at fullback and who might be ahead at left tackle.
