Derek Caldwell scored a career-high 25 points to lead Auburn to a 72-62 victory over Alabama before 10,036 at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum and an ESPN national television audience. It was the Tigers' first win over the Tide in eight games. Auburn shot a season-best 52 percent from the field and hit a season-high 12 three-pointers while holding Alabama to 35 percent shooting, 25 percent from 3-point range. Alabama led 15-9 before the Tigers went on a 19-5 run to take a 28-20 lead with 4:26 left in the first half. Wes Flanigan, who scored seven of Auburn's last nine points and finished with 14 points and 4 assists, gave the Tigers the lead for good at 21-20 with 6:03 left. Auburn led 36-29 at the half. During the second half, the Crimson Tide closed to two points on two occasions, the last at 52-50 with 6:32 remaining in the game. The Tigers would then go on a 11-4 run for a 63-54 lead. Brian Williams led Alabama with 17 points.
