Auburn, Ala.

Auburn -- The Auburn Tigers got a strong look at the future Friday night with 48 of its 77 points coming from freshman and sophomore players, as the Tigers went on to defeat the Global All-Stars 75-66 at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum in its last exhibition game of the season.

Head Coach Cliff Ellis was pleased with the play of the young players, "I was pleased with the performance of the Freshman overall. It's kind of scary thinking that we will be relying on our youth so much heading into the SEC schedule. The good thing about it is that we have a long time to work with them."

Auburn hit seven of its nine free throws down the stretch, including two by forward Franklin Williams with :35 seconds left, to outlast the All-Stars 75-66. The Tigers, who were led by sophomore Bryant Smith who scored 17 points, jumped out to early 11 point lead, and led the All-Stars by as much as 16 before taking a 41-35 advantage into the half.

However, Tes Whitlock hit a three-pointer with 17:40 left in the game to cut the Auburn lead to one, at 44-43. Auburn was able to build the lead back to eight at the 9:40 mark, with Doc Robinson's lay-in off the board putting the Tigers up 57-49.

The All-Stars were able to cut the lead to three at 57-54, with a three-pointer from Reggie Manuel with 9:01 remaining, but the All-Stars would come no closer, as the Tigers would hit their free- throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Smith was followed in scoring by freshman Damyeon Fishback with 15 and Franklin Williams with 13. Pat Burke had eight points and a team high 10 rebounds, and true freshmen Doc Robinson and Mamadou N'Diaye each added eight to pace the Tigers.

The Global All-Stars were led by Reggie Manuel and Juaquin Hawkins who each contributed 16 points.

The game was the final of Auburn's exhibition season. Ellis is looking to next Friday's matchup against UAB as a measure for his team, "If we can go into Birmingham on Friday night and handle this situation well, then we will know we are on the right track for the season."

The Tigers tip-Off against the Blazers is set for 7:30 p.m. at the UAB Arena.
