Ray Donald and Lance Weems each scored 15 points to lead Auburn to a 59-50 road win at South Alabama in the Mobile Civic Center before 7,268 in a split Tiger-Jaguar crowd. After leading 33-29 at the half, the Tigers drilled two consecutive treys to open the second half -- one each by Donald and Weems -- to take a 39-29 lead. AU would stretch its lead to 47-35 with 12:33 left, only to have the Jaguars trim the lead to 52-48 with 2:15 left. The Tigers hit 8 of 9 free throws down the stretch to seal the win, including six consecutive by Donald. AU only scored one field goal in the last 16:33 and zero in the final 13:04. However, South fouled the Tigers nearly every time down the court, resulting in 15 of 21 made free throws in the second half alone. Auburn shot 46 percent from the floor and 48 percent from 3-point range while holding the Jaguars to 41 percent shooting and 38 percent from trey land. Wes Flanigan had 8 assists for the Tigers while Pat Burke had 8 points and a game-high 10 rebounds with 4 blocks. Russell McCutcheon led South with 12 points..
