Lance Weems' 20 points led all scorers, and Pat Burke and Wes Flanigan each added double-doubles to pace all the Tigers' starters in double figures as Auburn defeated Jacksonville State 91-74 at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. The 4-0 record for the Tigers since the 1988-89 season.

Burke had 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Wes Flanigan pitched in 10 points and a career-high 11 assists. Derek Caldwell had 14 and Franklin Williams added 12. The Auburn lead reached 79-57 at the 9:19 mark of the second half on a follow layup by Williams. But a 17-8 run by the Gamecocks over the next 7:30 narrowed the gap to 87-74, capped by a made free throw by Rusty Brand with 1:50 remaining. Jacksonville State would not score again however, while Flanigan added the Tigers final four points on a free throw and a 3-pointer. The Gamecocks jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Tigers answered with a 22-5 run. After leading 53-41 at the half, Auburn opened the second half with a 26-16 run. JSU was led by Brand with 17 points, while Edward Coleman added 12.
