Ole Miss placed five players in double figures as the Rebels downed #21 Auburn 82-69 before 4,437 in Tad Smith Coliseum last Wednesday. Freshman Keith Carter scored a game-high 23 points for Ole Miss. The Tigers tied a season-high by committing 24 turnovers and were charged for nine offensive fouls, seven in the first half. After Auburn jumped out to a 9-1 lead, the teams traded baskets and then the Rebels scored 18 straight points for a 21-11 lead. After Ole Miss led 39-23 at halftime, Auburn opened with a 9-2 run to close to within 41-32 less than four minutes into the second half. The Rebels then enjoyed its largest lead at 56-35 following a 25-3 run with 11:30 to go. Pat Burke recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds and Franklin Williams pulled down a career-high 14 boards. Auburn shot a miserable .375 percent from the field and .273 percent from 3-point range. Ole Miss, the worst shooting club in the league coming into the game, was .448 percent from the field and .500 percent from trey land.
