Alabama connected on 14 of its first 16 shots, raced out to a 35-13 lead 12 minutes into the game and then held on for a 72-65 win before a sold out Coleman Coliseum crowd of 15,043. It was Auburn's 12th straight loss in Tuscaloosa and sixth straight in the series. The Tigers clawed back from their 22-point deficit to trail 43-26 at the half and then close it to within 66-65 with :52 left in the game. Alabama shot a torrid .643 percent from the field in the first half and finished .464 percent for the game. Auburn shot .313 percent from the field in the first half and finished .352 for the game. The Tigers were a frigid .216 percent (8-37) from 3-point range in their worst shooting performance from behind the arc on the year. The Tigers 37 trey attempts tied the school record. Lance Weems scored a game-high 22 points and Wes Flanigan chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Alabama's Roy Rogers had a career-high 20 points and 12 rebounds and freshman Brian Williams added 19.
