Murray State defeated Brescia, a NAIA member, 88-43 in its season opener on Friday behind 21 points from Stacy Wilson, who went 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists from Ed Daniel ... the Racers start four seniors and a junior ... Murray State returns preseason All- American Isaiah Canaan, a 6-foot point guard, from its 31-2 team that won the Ohio Valley Conference with a 15-1 record ... the Racers are ranked just outside of the Associated Press Top 25 this year ... Murray State defeated Freed-Hardeman 87-74 in its lone exhibition game on Nov. 5 behind 19 points from Canaan on 3-of-7 3-point shooting ... This is the third meeting between Auburn and Murray State with the Tigers winning both of the previous two meetings.
In the last meeting between the two, Auburn defeated Murray State 72-53 on Dec. 14, 2002, in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum while the Tigers defeated the Racers 86-72 in Birmingham on Dec. 21, 1996.
